Hey, y’all! I’m Gina from The Shabby Creek Cottage, and I’m so excited to be hanging out here at Kristen’s blog today! I’m normally hanging out down by the creek in our little cottage, telling the tales of remodeling my childhood home with the help of Mr. SCC and our two girls.

Even though we’re landlocked, we love the beach. It’s our favorite place to escape to, so when we took a trip to Tybee Island, GA earlier this year, it was one of the best vacations we’ve ever had. I took tons and tons of photos, and when we got home I decided that I wanted to create a gallery wall to showcase all the great memories we had.

Portraits are the key to bringing life into my “gallery.” Although we have a couple of other pieces of art scattered amongst our gallery ledges, the photos of my kiddos on the beach having fun is what brings a smile to my face each and every day.

Bringing in the additional photos of still life objects from our vacation complements the portraits, but because the trip was all captured and is displayed together, I love the overall effect.

To me, mixing in the beautiful faces of my loved ones, with bits & pieces of the places we’ve been, creates a lovely juxtaposition that just can’t be beat!

Thanks, Kristen, for inviting me to share my gallery wall on your blog today!

{What beautiful photography, Gina!  I simply adore the image of the blue glass jars on the fence.  And I agree, the family faces mixed with places and things you love are a perfect marriage in a wall portrait design. Thank you!  You all must go check out her cottage.}
