I LOVE pictures. & I LOVE decorating. What better way to marry two loves than to use them as the ultimate home accessory?! Kristen–thank you so much for inviting me to be a part of this project!!

I’m shawna–the creative mama behind styleberryBLOG. Though my days are filled with washing diapers & messy fun, my goal is to make mommyhood a stylish adventure. We talk creativity, style, food, decorating, green-chic living & mommyhood over at styleberryBLOG, a daily-ish dose of something fab. 😉

So…when Kristen & I exchanged emails, I shared with her that I have a “thing” for gallery walls…and asked her if she wanted just one, or several of mine. She told me that more is better–so I’ll walk you through my home–where I have an eclectic mix of memories around every corner!

As a certified home stager (which I was before I fell in love with taking pictures) we always talk about pictures making a house a home. When you go to sell your home…it must become a house. Bye bye pictures. Hello bare walls. But bare walls are boring. So here’s a look at the first bare wall I tackled when the military moved us here to South Texas a couple of years ago:

The staircase leading upstairs had a HUGE wall that was boring and begged for pictures. It’s pretty steep so I took an idea I saw in the Pottery Barn catalog & brought it to life. I spray painted a bunch of my random frames black, just for some consistency & taped kraft paper to the wall to design my final gallery. You can see the “progress pics” here: The Staircase Gallery Wall. I’ve edited it over the years, but I sure enjoy looking at it every day!

The next gallery wall I did was in my daughter caroline’s nursery. Again, I grabbed the spray paint & went at a bunch of mismatched bargain frames from Homegoods, Marshalls & Hobby Lobby. It’s a simple display, but helps balance out her crazy hot pink damask stenciled walls with some sleek, black lines.

My loft playroom gallery ledges were probably my biggest project to date…mostly because I actually built those ledges myself. 🙂 Determined to fill a space that had the PERFECT indent for custom wall to wall ledges, I went to Lowe’s and made my ledge/magnetic chalkboard wall concept a reality. I knew I wanted something BIG and interchangeable. I wanted this gallery to grow & be mixed & matched over time. I ended up getting all mounted prints (on gatorboard) and just setting them on the ledges. I play with them often. Add. Subtract. But mostly add. It sure livens up this space! For more info on how I built the shelves, head over to the: Loft Playroom Gallery Ledges.

& my most recent gallery wall project I had been putting off FOREVER…mostly because of the eyesore that killed my lines: the heat & a/c control panel. I’m sure you have stuff like this in your home! I tried forever to wrap my brain around how to make this wall work & decided ito just decorate around it. I think it actually ended up looking decent, despite the obvious challenge!

My living room is full of earth tones with pops of turquoise…the perfect images pull the whole room together!

& that does it…until next month! I am holding off on the gallery wall in my new nursery until we know if this babe is a boy or a girl. 😉

Thank you, Kristen, for having me as a part of your hugely inspirational series!
